Dr. Yuna Huh Wong is the founder and President of the Women’s Wargaming Network. She is a wargamer and defense analyst at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) where she leads wargames and tabletop exercises for the Joint Staff and combatant commands on topics including deterrence, logistics, space, and climate change. She is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, where she teaches on artificial intelligence and international policy.

She was previously a senior researcher at the RAND Corporation and co-director for RAND’s Center for Gaming. At RAND, she headed the design team for the wargame Hedgemony: A Game of Strategic Choices, which supported the Pentagon’s 2018 U.S. National Defense Strategy. She also designed the 2019 NATO Military Strategy Game, which stress tested NATO’s draft military strategy. While at RAND she published Deterrence in the Age of Thinking Machines, which used a wargame to explore the potential deterrence and escalation dynamics of adding artificial intelligence and unmanned systems to war. Other publications included ones on wargaming recommendations for the U.S. Marine Corps.

Dr. Wong is a frequent organizer and speaker at wargaming conferences, as well as a former member of the Board of Directors for the Military Operations Research Society. She holds a BS in political science, a BS in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a MA in political science from Columbia University, and a PhD in policy analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.

Drew serves as Secretary and Director of Development for the Women’s Wargaming Network. While originally from New York City, she currently resides in Dallas where she studies Political
Science, Public Policy, and International Affairs at Southern Methodist University. Prior to her time at SMU, Drew spent a year in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a Research Associate
at Business Executives for National Security and PAXsims. Drew holds a longstanding passion for national security and is currently fascinated with Arctic security and space security in particular. Beyond her professional and intellectual pursuits, Drew loves visiting museums, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with loved ones.

Sarah Chen is currently a Creative Researcher at Chyr Studio, researching impossible spaces for games. As a Rhodes Scholar, she holds an MSc in Social Science of the Internet from the Oxford Internet Institute and a dual B.A. in International Relations and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Claremont McKenna College. She has built her own creative and serious games for empirical data collection research, for narrative exploration, and for wargaming sponsors. Sarah created a narrative game that mapped escalation preferences for Talosian and anthropic war crimes at Oxford, worked on multiple wargames with the Center for Naval Analyses, and built an interactive fiction for data analysis on catastrophic risks at Cavendish Labs. 

Sarah loves fiction about the future and about food, ideally the intersection between the two. Her favorite books are anything written by Becky Chambers and “Sourdough” by Robin Sloan. She also is an avid gamer, reaching platinum in Teamfight Tactics and with hundreds of hours sunk into Divinity, Disco Elysium, and NieR:Automata.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Joslyn is a Joint Military Operations and Wargaming Analyst for the Joint Advanced Warfighting Division at the Institute for Defense Analyses. Her game research and design has largely focused on great power competition, distributed logistics, and risk literacy. She received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry at Bridgewater College and a Master of Science in Terrorism and Homeland Security Policy at American University’s School of Public Affairs. In addition, she is the Co-chair of Connections Next Generation, Head of Programming for the Women’s Wargaming Network, a wargaming instructor for the Military Operations Research Society, and a Research Associate for the wargaming blog, PAXsims. Previously, she served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia.

Joanna Di Scipio is a Research Associate at the Institute for Defense Analyses where she has designed, developed and facilitated over 15 Wargames and Tabletop Exercises focused on pressing national security challenges. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from William & Mary in 2022 with degrees in International Relations and French & Francophone studies. She also works as a Fellowship editor for Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.

Nathalie Marver-Kwon is Treasurer at the Women’s Wargaming Network. She studies Eurasian geopolitics at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service with a Certificate in Diplomatic Studies. She was a 2023 Boren Scholar and spent six months studying Russian intensively in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Her research interests are primarily in cybersecurity, nationalism, and wargaming.
